CrossFit came up on my Facebook feed and at the time I was bored with my genesis gym membership. I was looking for variety so I thought I’d give Crossfit a go. 

I had my first class at 6.00am and I didn’t know what to expect. My first impression I got was how friendly and welcoming the coaches and other members were which really stuck with me. Also I noticed that there were no mirrors in the gym or people with ego’s and I was really interested in all the equipment which a lot of it was new to me.  

My opinion hasn’t really changed. The coaches and members are still friendly and welcoming to everyone and it has a great community vibe. Everyone is encouraging and supportive which is what makes our box awesome!

I’ve had lots of bright spots since joining. It’s been a year and I had never done most of the movements. If I had to pick, it’s between I would say it’s learning to do front/back squats and RXing my first metcon workout.

My goals are to get double unders and TTB so I’ll continue to work on those.  I’m working on my nutrition as well. I don’t really sleep the best either due to work so that’s something I need to work on. 

If I could go back in time I would tell myself to keep up the training and to just enjoy each workout. Have fun and don’t take it to seriously. I’ve really enjoyed watching other members achieve their goals as well. Crossfit is tough and there will be aches but the gains will be worth it!
