Member of the Month – Toni

Congratulations Toni! We can’t even put into words how amazing it has been to see Toni’s improvement lately. Her strength has made immense gains (casually deadlifting 125kg now!), her fitness is out of this world and her willingness to redline and really hurt in workouts is so impressive! This is ensuring that her benchmarks are constantly improving. It’s also really admirable that Toni is always asking the coaches what the best strategy is for a workout so she can get the most out of her sessions! Keep up the excellent work!

If you had to say something to someone looking to try CF for the first time, what would it be?

Give it a go! The movements can all be scaled to where you are at to make every workout an achievable challenge.

How did you get started with CrossFit?

I had tried it a few years ago because my housemate was doing it. Then I needed something after Covid lockdowns to get me going so I thought I would start again.

How do you find/make time to get your workouts in?

I like to come in the evenings when I don’t have basketball. 

What is one fun fact about you that we may not know yet?

I am as of a couple of months ago, a keen gardener.

In your opinion, what is the biggest benefit of exercising?

It gives me energy to do everything else I want to do.

How has being a member at CrossFit Oxygen helped you on your fitness journey?

It has been a great community with programming that provides me a challenge each time I walk in the gym. 

What is your favourite movement/type of workout?

Cleans.

What is your least favourite movement/ type of workout?

Burpees!!

What is your biggest CrossFit accomplishment so far?

Having been very consistent.

What motivates and inspires you?

My mum, she turned 70 this year and is still one of the most active people I know.
