I have been training with weights for some time. However I started to notice imbalances and the lack of true strength on compound movements. On top of that it was quite boring to repeat the same workouts every day. So I started looking for something different, something fun, in which you could workout in a social environment against the clock. CrossFit ticked all the boxes!
I have to say that the first day was a bit daunting. Seen the endurance and strength of people that have been training for a while was a bit intimidating. I could not believe the amazing things they were capable of doing. Also noticed how friendly everyone was.
The coaches are very humble and thorough with their guidance. They really take their time with you until you get it right. Although my body and brain are still adapting to the exercises I can see progress already.
I would say is finding this great community. The fact that there are no egos. It is just a bunch of people encouraging each other to complete the workout by pushing your own limits.
Form, technique, acronyms, endurance. Its a whole new but exciting world for me. Some movements are a bit technical and to perform them correctly they require you to follow specific progressions.
If I went back in time and told myself one thing it would be that I should have joined earlier! It is really quite fun, challenging and rewarding!
