Member of the Month – Rikki

Congratulations to our March Member of the Month, Rikki!
Rikki is always challenging herself to improve and getting out of her comfort zone. Although the path isn’t always easy, she is an inspiration to us all for keeping a positive attitude and desire to keep going. For this she has earned her the Member of the month March.

If you had to say something to someone looking to try CF for the first time, what would it be?

Just give it a chance! Its not as scary as you think its going to be. Its more fun than anything! and the support you get and friendships you make is like none other.

How did you get started with CrossFit?

I followed the Instagram page for a while and finally decided ‘i wanna do that’ so i set up an introduction and loved it from day one.

How do you find/make time to get your workouts in?

I find/make time because I enjoy it, I love seeing everyone and love the feeling of smashing a workout, it’s not hard to make time for something you WANT to do.

What is one fun fact about you that we may not know yet?

Hmm, i studied Patisserie and was a Pastry Chef for 3 years.

In your opinion, what is the biggest benefit of exercising?

Making goals and achieving those goals. like anything, it feels amazing to achieve something you set out to do!

How has being a member at CrossFit Oxygen helped you on your fitness journey?

It’s helped me immensely. I am someone who thrives on encouragement and support, and I definitely get that here. It has also changed the way I feel/think about my own body, what I eat and how I see myself. I have a much more positive relationship with my body and mind now then I did before starting CF.

What is your favorite movement/type of workout?

I love gymnastics and lifting, my favourite movements are probably Squat Cleans and Handstands.

What is your least favorite movement/ type of workout?

Umm burpees and wall balls? lol.

What is your biggest CrossFit accomplishment so far?

Other than my general over all fitness increase, my biggest accomplishment is probably a 1RM 60kg back squat and also being able to hold a handstand, it shows me just how much strength I have gained as I couldn’t even hold a 10 second plank when I started.

What motivates and inspires you?

Everyone at CF02. the members and the coaches. The ongoing support and encouragement that everyone gives each other and seeing everyone smash their own goals. its a beautiful thing to be apart of.
