Member of the Month – Josh
Congratulations Josh! His positive attitude, eagerness to learn more and push himself in each workout has earned him June Member of the Month.
If you had to say something to someone looking to try CF for the first time, what would it be?
Give it a go because for me its allowed me to push and test myself through a variety of different areas with no pressure form other members or trainers to do too much more than I felt comfortable with. When you join a gym you have an expectation that everyone is looking at you but I never felt this was the case.
How did you get started with CrossFit?
I started with triathlons a little while back but then after doing some running with my brother who’s been doing CrossFit for a long time now, and I realised I was never going to beat him so why not join him!
How do you find/make time to get your workouts in?
I much prefer to train in the morning but have had to structure it around my wife’s shift work. However I did find through lockdown that I really enjoyed being able to train whenever I liked.
What is one fun fact about you that we may not know yet?
Avid red and white wine collector and enthusiast. I probably have 250 bottles and I’m also a real book geek. I could read my book all day if people would leave me alone long enough!
In your opinion, what is the biggest benefit of exercising?
Nothing makes you feel better than setting a milestone and reaching it. With exercise theres so many large and small milestones that can be set and achieved.
How has being a member at CrossFit Oxygen helped you on your fitness journey?
I gain a lot of confidence from being a member by getting slowly stronger each week and its helped my running and triathlon fitness immeasurably.
What is your favourite movement/type of workout?
I’ve actually found that I’ve really enjoyed the weightlifting movements which I didn’t expect, but with the cardio I’ve done I’ve really like the ones with some running in them. Love knowing that I can do little more than last week.
What is your least favourite movement/ type of workout?
The OHS is tricky for my stumpy little body but I’m enjoying the challenge to work through it. Especially with Andrews tips today.
What is your biggest CrossFit accomplishment so far?
I’m not sure its any 1 thing because of lock down but I’m sure it will come soon. Maybe getting back in the gym and feeling that the work I did at home actually worked.
What motivates and inspires you?
Probably a little corny but as above I’m really enjoying the challenges of each movement to get a little stronger. But this little acknowledgment provides a lot of motivation.
