Food Containers – What are the differences?
Like our socks, our containers and lids seem to always be missing their pair. When you are eating out of Tupperware for more than 50% of your meals it can be nice to have nice containers. We have broken it down into two categories: lid types, and base types.
Suction Seal vs Snap Lock Lids
Suction Seal Lids are great for everyday use, if you aren’t traveling in the car or on transport due to if they fall over in your bag, or in the car then the lids tend to come off. If you like soups, curries and softer foods this can be a problem. These containers are generally cheaper in price compared to the snap lock containers but not always. Suction seal are easier to clean due to the way the lids are made.
Snap lock containers are great to keep food in the container for bumpier trips. Great for commuters as you can guarantee the lids stay on. Slightly more fiddly when it come to cleaning, generally more expensive, compared to their similar product with a suction seal. Paying for the piece of mind.
Glass vs Plastic
Glass is very easy to clean, doesn’t hold spice residue, food odours or colouring from your food. A lot of brands are quite durable, however, if dropped the glass can smash. Glass containers are nicer to eat out of, similar to a real bowl. Slightly more expensive compared to its plastic counterpart.
Plastic containers are very durable, if you accidentally drop your containers they generally won’t break. However, the plastic can stain, hold onto food odours from foods such as curries, meat products and other flavoursome foods. There are more variety in sizes and styles when compared to glass. Plastic is generally cheaper to buy.
