Member of the Month – Tamie

Congratulations! Post lockdown Tamie has come to class with an eagerness to learn and try new things, push herself that little bit further and brought with her a positive attitude towards her training. This has earnt her the title January 2021 Member of the month! 🙂

If you had to say something to someone looking to try CF for the first time, what would it be?

If I can do it, you can do it! Haha. It looks a bit daunting but it’s really not once you get started. It’s supportive, inclusive and fun!

How did you get started with CrossFit?

I was looking for something that would help me to build strength, but also an environment where I would be supported, challenged and motivated to train consistently.

How do you find/make time to get your workouts in?

I like the early morning sessions. My alarm goes and I’m up and in my car before I have time to think about whether or not I should go. This really works for me! I also like that I then feel good for the rest of the day.

What is one fun fact about you that we may not know yet?

Hmm…I like funk, soul and RnB music. Oh and I can still do the splits! (Random party trick!)

In your opinion, what is the biggest benefit of exercising?

Definitely how good I feel when I train consistently. Not only stronger in my body but I have a clearer mind and a better mindset.

How has being a member at CrossFit Oxygen helped you on your fitness journey?

Well I think the supportive and encouraging environment has meant my training has been more consistent than ever before. I also have surprised myself with how I can push myself and do things I never before thought I could.

What is your favourite movement/type of workout?

I like the weightlifting component. I like the challenge and that there is so much to think about, the focus on the movement.

What is your least favourite movement/ type of workout?

Running…definitely don’t like running!

What is your biggest CrossFit accomplishment so far?

Hmm for me it’s not so much a number rather that I have turned up consistently and have pushed myself. I plan to keep doing this in 2021 and see what improvements I make!

What motivates and inspires you?

Feeling great, being strong, clear-headed and healthy so I can do all the things I love to do with my family and friends.
