Member of the Month – Yousef
Congratulations! Yousef brings energy to every single class. His positive attitude towards training, willingness to try new things and openness to feedback has earned him the title of February member of the month. These are qualities that we all hope to encompass.
If you had to say something to someone looking to try CF for the first time, what would it be?
Try it for one month, 3 times a week, and I will promise you to be addicted to it.
How did you get started with CrossFit?
Coming from a powerlifting background, routines similar to CF were part of my program to get some chest capacity. But it was never a priority. So CF oxygen is really my first dedicated CF experience.
How do you find/make time to get your workouts in?
I often sleep 6 hours a day so I can do what I love most during the day.
What is one fun fact about you that we may not know yet?
I have 31 national and 2 international swimming medals.
In your opinion, what is the biggest benefit of exercising?
It is the only time of the day that I can clear my mind from everything else. I found CF very helpful for resetting my mind and boosting my energy.
How has being a member at CrossFit Oxygen helped you on your fitness journey?
It has been an amazing journey. Exercising has been part of my life since I was 4 when I first learned to swim. Since then I’ve always loved programs and routines that could challenge my capabilities. They are like small goals to achieve which makes me happy. CF is amazing in giving me these challenges. Often learning new movements from CF or working towards becoming faster or stronger are all steps that CF brings to the table.
What is your favourite movement/type of workout?
I love working with weights so I should say weight training exercises.
What is your least favourite movement/ type of workout?
I really cannot put my finger on an exercise as my least movement. Maybe distance running Anything more than 200m.
What is your biggest CrossFit accomplishment so far?
Losing 7kg in two and half months. The weights I put on during the lockdown
What motivates and inspires you?
My son and my future-self. Being a good role model for my son really motivates me. I can see myself in his eyes and how much he looked up to me. And My future-self always inspires me. I like to imagine myself in the future and then set my goals.
Legend! I didn’t know about the swimming. I’ll have to ask you about it next time I see you.
