If you had to say something to someone looking to try CF for the first time, what would it be?

Just get in there and do it! It’s heaps of fun and sustainable long-term. It’s a great opportunity to challenge yourself in new ways and meet like-minded people

How did you get started with CrossFit?

It was getting lonely training in my garage throughout Covid. I had heard lots of positive things about CrossFit and it’s something I’ve always been interested in, particularly the technique side of powerlifting and olympic weightlifting.

How do you find/make time to get your workouts in?

I’m lucky that I’ve never really had an issue with discipline when it comes to workouts. CFO2 has class times that work around my shift work schedule. I particularly love going after a morning shift because it gives that extra push in a workout that I wouldn’t have if I were training alone.

What is one fun fact about you that we may not know yet?

I’ve played piano since I was 6 and have a job playing at various open for inspections prior to auctions on Saturdays.

In your opinion, what is the biggest benefit of exercising?

The gains! I love seeing progress in my lifts and physique. I also love the mental benefits of improved sleep, better concentration throughout the day and improved energy levels.

How has being a member at CrossFit Oxygen helped you on your fitness journey?

CF has challenged my body in new ways and pushed me beyond normal limits. CF has also enabled me to improve my form and confidence when performing basic compound movements.

What is your favourite movement/type of workout?

I love the challenge of weight lifting movements and overhead squats. They’re super hard but very different from anything I’ve ever done before.

What is your least favourite movement/ type of workout?

Burpees 100%! I also struggle with bar work/gymnastics but look forward to working on it.

What is your biggest CrossFit accomplishment so far?

Probably managing 5 strict pull-ups in a row! Didn’t know I could do them.

What motivates and inspires you?

In the crossfit gym it’s definitely Holly & Andrew and the other members. I love watching the entire crew hit new PBs and push themselves every workout…. Gives me a little more motivation to achieve my goals too.
