Member of the Month – John

Congratulations! John is one of the most consistent members that has been a part of this community. He is always quietly chipping away at workouts and improving on his current skill set, whilst providing some solid banter for other members during the sessions. John has proven that being consistent with your training is exactly what’s required to become a better athlete, and we can’t wait to see his daughter grow up and train like her dad!

If you had to say something to someone looking to try CF for the first time, what would it be?

Why not? You don’t have to RX the workout, just give it a go. What’s the worse that can happen? But did you die???

How did you get started with CrossFit?

When I was living in the UK and training to fight in MMA I was introduced to CrossFit by my coach.

How do you find/make time to get your workouts in?

My family and I make it work, that’s why sometimes I’ll take Addi with me to give my partner a break.

What is one fun fact about you that we may not know yet?

I got paid to amateur fight in the UK with MMA/CQC (Close Quarter Combat).

In your opinion, what is the biggest benefit of exercising?

Reduces stress levels, improves my mental health and well being.

How has being a member at CrossFit Oxygen helped you on your fitness journey?

Meet some great people, can take the piss out of people and they will give it back. And members don’t mind my daughter complaining, lol.

What is your favourite movement/type of workout?

Squat snatch, any workout with T2B and power cleans.

What is your least favourite movement/ type of workout?

Wall walks (I mean who the hell thought these would be a good idea) and wall balls, they just suck.

What is your biggest CrossFit accomplishment so far?

To be coming in consistently and improving my handstand walking.

What motivates and inspires you?

Seeing people at the gym laugh and enjoy them selves, especially when I take the piss out of them. Seeing them achieve their goals.
