I was doing group fitness classes for awhile at a gym, I loved it and re-discovered lifting with one of the classes there. When a few of the coaches moved on I felt a bit lost and in need of guidance. So I decided it was time to find somewhere with a good community, preferably a place where I could do both cardio and lifting.

I joined CFoxygen about a month or two after it opened. It all seemed new and exciting but I worried I was going to miss my old gym friends. I shouldn’t have worried. People welcomed me in. The coaches found out what I wanted and helped me in getting there. They cared and learnt how to bring out the best in me. I guess it’s changed because now I’m the one welcoming the new people, now I’m goal orientated. It’s not just a small box anymore. It’s a big community, ever growing, ever expanding programs. I’m not nervous now about fitting in, I’m excited about where we’re heading.

I believe my first bright spot was getting up to a 35kg snatch because I remember loving that I was allowed to drop the bar from overhead instead of having to lower it down! Such an energy saver and it always makes me feel beasting.

I’ve spent a lot of time improving my cleans and I’d like to tick that off officially (for now).  At Crossfit, the next goal is doing ten toes to bar unbroken. Outside of Crossfit it’s 3 laps at the MCG Stadium Stomp in July.

If I could go back in time, I would tell the Morgs of 1 year ago that you can’t out train an inadequate diet. Talk to Coach Holly and get on the nutrition bandwagon now.
