Member of the Month – Jonard
Congratulations Jonard, our October Member of the month!! His dedication to his training since returning outdoors, positive attitude and willingness to give anything a go have earned him the title in October!
If you had to say something to someone looking to try CF for the first time, what would it be?
Just do it! You never know if you like it until you try and the CF community has got to be one of the most supportive communities out there!
How did you get started with CrossFit?
I saw the documentary “Fittest On Earth” and I saw a bunch of people in the morning and afternoon working out and being active, having fun and thought that could be me too!
How do you find/make time to get your workouts in?
Mornings are the best time for me. Working out first thing in the morning is so rewarding, knowing that I’ve completed and accomplished something is awesome!
What is one fun fact about you that we may not know yet?
I’m a photographer!
In your opinion, what is the biggest benefit of exercising?
Improve your quality of sleep. Reduce feelings of anxiety and depression. And Improve your mental health and mood.
How has being a member at CrossFit Oxygen helped you on your fitness journey?
I’ve lost weight and built muscle. I’ve learnt proper lifting and squatting techniques. I’ve improved mentally and physically, I used to just sit and watch tv now I just want to be active!
What is your favourite movement/type of workout?
anything to do with squats
What is your least favourite movement/ type of workout?
any pull-ups
What is your biggest CrossFit accomplishment so far?
Getting up in the morning and train every day even if I’m tired or sore from the previous day. I know that this is all part of the process.
What motivates and inspires you?
“CHOOSE YOUR HARD” When I was lazy and not active, it was hard to sleep and wake up, it was hard to find any motivation to do most things, it’s hard to work out! And it’s hard being unfit and unhealthy! All of these had no benefits for me. So for me ” CHOOSE YOUR HARD” I choose working out every day as my hard, eating healthy as my hard because I for a fact that this benefit my life!
