Member of the Month – Twisty

Congratulations Twisty! Even with some big challenges Twisty has remained consistent with his training. Encouraging others through Zoom workouts, and isn’t afraid of having a laugh! We cant wait to watch you kick some masters goals in 2021. Keep up the great work!

If you had to say something to someone looking to try CF for the first time, what would it be?

Don’t listen to people who haven’t tried CrossFit. The community of CrossFit is the most inviting group of people you’ll ever meet. It will become the best hour of your day

How did you get started with CrossFit?

It took my wife one year to convince me to try. I should have started earlier, but I fell in the trap of listening to others. It’s too risky, stay away. They were wrong!

How do you find/make time to get your workouts in?

Training is part of my day. It takes little effort to motivate me.

What is one fun fact about you that we may not know yet?

I play also tennis, a video gamer with my kids (Minecraft), camping.

In your opinion, what is the biggest benefit of exercising?

It keeps your body and mind youthful. Age is no barrier!

How has being a member at CrossFit Oxygen helped you on your fitness journey?

I have learnt more beyond just fitness. I’ve established long life friends, developed more confidence within myself and become an athlete as opposed to a fitness enthusiast.

What is your favourite movement/type of workout?

Best movement – HSPUs (handstand push ups) is my favourite movement. Who doesn’t like getting upside down!

Best workout – Dianne (HSPU and deadlifts)  is my favourite WOD. Short and nasty!

What is your least favourite movement/ type of workout?

Worst movement – Heavy Wall Balls. A tall person must have created this movement. What about us short people?

Worst workout – Heavy DT. I love using a barbell, but my small hands get destroyed when cycling the barbell.

What is your biggest CrossFit accomplishment so far?

Competing in Sydney with my team representing our gym at nationals.

What motivates and inspires you?

My kids. They are my biggest fan when I’m lifting heavy things!
