Member of the Month – James

Congratulations James! We have been very fortunate for James to have stepped into our gym! He brings a lovely energy to all the classes he attends, and his unwavering effort to make sure his technique is making improvements is very admirable. The progress he has made in his time with us has been awesome, and it’s all because of his consistency and ability to stick to his routine! Keep up the excellent work!  

If you had to say something to someone looking to try CF for the first time, what would it be?

Do it! What’s the worst thing that could happen?

How did you get started with CrossFit?

Googled CrossFit and then made a booking for a PT session and then just turned up!

How do you find/make time to get your workouts in?

You just need to decide… We all have 24 hours in the day – The good news is it’s up to you how you use them.

What is one fun fact about you that we may not know yet?

I love to travel and see new places. One memorable highlight – Driving a snowmobile at crazy speed on a glacier in Iceland… Highly recommended!

In your opinion, what is the biggest benefit of exercising?

I can definitely feel that I have an increased energy during the day.  I’m sleeping better, have a clearer head and I’m feeling just a little bit happy with myself about all that. 🙂

How has being a member at CrossFit Oxygen helped you on your fitness journey?

It’s just so easy. I don’t really have to think about it too much, just turn up, the workouts are spot on in terms of just hard enough but not too hard.

What is your favourite movement/type of workout?

Learning how to lift weight properly has been enjoyable. Who would have thought…

What is your least favourite movement/ type of workout?

Burpees – What kind of psychopath invented those?

What is your biggest CrossFit accomplishment so far?

Turning up! A favourite quote of mine is “You don’t need motivation if you have discipline”. With that in mind my goal has been to just keep turning up, regardless of the weather, how sore I am from the last session or anything else that is going on in my life at the time.

What motivates and inspires you?

All the other folks that are part of the group. Everyone is friendly, no egos and are just doing their best too. It is so much better to work out in a group!
